It would seem strange these days to go to a local brewery and not see a food truck outside.
So we asked food truck owners to recommend beers to drink with these popular food truck foods:
Grilled cheese: Paul Inserra, owner of American Meltdown truck with a location opening soon at The Streets at Southpoint in Durham, says sour beer and India pale ales work well with fatty, rich foods. He recommends Fullsteam’s Ginger Science, a mix of the brewery’s Rocket Science IPA and Cackalacky Ginger Pale Ale, which is available by the glass and growler at the Durham brewery.
Pizza: Becky Cascio of Pie Pushers pizza truck says it depends on what’s on your slice. A veggie pizza calls for a lighter beer, like Ponysaurus Brewing’s Scottish Ale. A meat-heavy slice goes well with Ponysaurus’ India Pale Ale.
Barbecue: Big Mikes Barbecue owner Michael Markham, who owns a food truck and a Cary location, says pale ales and lagers pair well with rich, fatty barbecue. He recommends Triangle Brewing Co.’s Habanero Pale Ale or Deep River Brewing Co.’s Double D’s Watermelon Lager.
