It seems indecent to talk about Christmas when we haven’t even cooked Thanksgiving dinner. But I promise if you don’t sign up for these classes now, you won’t be able to once you recover from Thanksgiving.

Children’s holiday cooking camps

If you are looking for activities for your children during the holiday break, Sur la Table at The Streets of Southpoint is offering two-day cooking camps.

For children ages 8-12, there are two-day cooking camps from 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 22-23 and Dec. 29-30. For teenagers, there are two-day cooking camps from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 22-23 and Dec. 29-30. The cost is $100 for each two-day session.

It’s also worth mentioning two other cooking schools that cater to children, which may be a good option for upcoming holiday breaks and track outs.

Classy Kids Cook in Cary offers week-long cooking camps for full-day or half-day students. Classes run from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The cost is $385 for a week of full days, $260 for a week of half days and $80 for individual days. The school also offers after-school cooking classes from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for $45 per class or $160 for four classes.

The Flour Power Kids Cooking Studio, formerly Lil Chef, at the North Hills shopping complex also caters to children from preschool age to teenagers. They offer classes and camps whenever schools are closed. Week-long camps run 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and cost $299. Single day sessions cost $84.
