Reservations are still available for the Dec. 5 and 6 dinners at Goat Lady Dairy in Climax, N.C.
I know it’s a bit of a trek, about 75 minutes west of Raleigh. But Goat Lady Dairy makes some of the state’s most well-known goat milk cheeses, which are amazing. (Their cheeses will convert people who have been turned off by inferior goat milk cheeses due to its barnyardy smell.) If you love food and live in this state, attending one of their dinners is a bucket list event, like driving to Skylight Inn in Ayden for a barbecue sandwich. (That is a farther drive.)
Diners enjoy a farm tour and a five-course meal featuring fruits, vegetables and meats grown or raised on the farm. Diners enjoy a complimentary glass of wine to start the meal but can bring their own beer or wine to enjoy with dinner. The evening ends with coffee or tea and the dairy’s famous chocolate goat cheese truffles. Plus, they often sell cheese at the end of meal so bring a cooler to take some home.
The evening starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. It costs $60 plus service charges.
