The New York Times Upshot blog posted a map of the unusually popular recipes searched via Google by state for Thanksgiving.
In North Carolina, it is pig pickin’ cake – a delicious treat any time of year. If you want that recipe, look no farther. I wrote a story in 2012 about pig pickin’ cake as a go-to summer dessert to feed a crowd.
(The Times’ map leads to more Google searches. What in the heck is frog eye salad that is popular in Idaho and Wyoming? Or cookie salad in North Dakota?)
Check it out at http://tinyurl.com/pcvh5pj , and if you’re a native of those states and can shed light on those recipes, let me know.
