The Rural Advancement Foundation International, a Pittsboro-based nonprofit, is trying help sustainable farmers by using its 17 years of experience working with such farmers to document agricultural innovations in a new online library and book.
RAFI has launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $14,000 to create the “Growing Innovation” online library and book. As of last week, about 90 people had pledged more than $2,500. The deadline to contribute is 7 p.m. March 22. To see a 2-minute video about the project and to donate, go to kck.st/growrafi.
You also can join RAFI supporters at 8 p.m. Thursday at The City Tap in Pittsboro for the launch of the campaign. Or you can raise a pint at Steel String Brewery in Carrboro on March 19, when 10 percent of the night’s proceeds will go to the campaign.
According to its website, RAFI is a nonprofit whose staff and supporters believe “the best way to ensure a just, sustainable future for farming is to create markets, policies, and communities that reward farmers for doing the right thing.”
