New chef at Il Palio

The Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill has hired a new chef for its Il Palio restaurant: Teddy Diggs.

Diggs, a 2004 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, comes to Chapel Hill from Martha’s Vineyard where he worked at the Home Port Restaurant.

As a way to introduce Diggs’ cooking to the Triangle, the restaurant has launched a few weekly specials and scheduled some events:

• Each Monday will be Meatball Mondays. A recent special was pork meatballs, gnocchi, tomato sauce, basil, Grana Padano cheese and hazelnuts.



• Every day for lunch, diners can enjoy two courses and a glass of wine for $28. This is offered 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays.



• April 5, Diggs will be serving up samples from 9 a.m.-noon at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market.



• April 25, a Taste of Italy wine dinner in conjunction with Taste, a food and beverage event. The five-course dinner, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will explore the five regions of Italy. It costs $95 per person. For reservations, call 919-933-1551.
