Durham’s Straw Valley Food & Drink is opening its wine and raw bar service Friday with a celebration featuring Bordeaux wines and fresh oysters.
From 6-11 p.m. diners can enjoy 3- or 6-ounce pours or bottles of wine from winemaker Lionel Latorse. The menu will feature oysters from the East Coast, West Coast and North Carolina, little neck clams, cheese, prosciutto, bar snacks and chocolate.
Straw Valley is a unique space. It has a coffee bar and cafe, a fine dining restaurant, The Black House in a converted mid-century modern house, and a beer garden opening late spring or early summer. It is tucked away in a busy retail area off U.S. 15-501 between Chapel Hill and Durham.
