Bull Durham Beer Co., which will be familiar to Durham Bulls baseball fans, is set to expand and open a separate restaurant outside the minor league ballpark.
The brewery will open a beer garden and restaurant on the ground floor of American Tobacco Campus’s Diamond View III building, just behind the Durham Bulls stadium on Blackwell Street.
Currently fans of Bull Durham Beer Co. can only get a taste of their beer while the Durham Bulls are in season or at special events. The new location, to be called The Bullpen, will be open year-round, according to a press release.
Heavenly Buffaloes, a Durham hot wing takeout stand, will provide lunch and dinner service at The Bullpen. As of now there is no word as to whether or not they will offer an expanded menu outside of wings.
Regular live music will be arranged by the Music Maker Relief Foundation, with $1 from each pint of beer sold going to support the nonprofit’s work preserving the musical traditions of the South.
“Beer, baseball, buffalo wings and the blues are part of Durham’s DNA. This new restaurant will bring together some of the most popular homegrown institutions for one dynamite restaurant where folks can have a great time for a good cause,” Capitol Broadcasting vice president of real estate Michael Goodmon said in the release. (Capitol Broadcasting developed and currently owns and operates the American Tobacco Campus.)
“Bull Durham Beer Co. makes delicious beer people enjoy. Our beer is as straightforward as the blues, as unpretentious as the wing, and as classic as a baseball game on a summer afternoon. We are proud to offer our fans an establishment that so perfectly exemplifies what we strive to achieve with what we put in the glass,” Bull Durham Beer Company brand manager Brad Farran also added in the release.
The Bullpen is slated to open in late October, and will operate seven days a week from 11 a.m. until midnight. The exact opening date and other information about the new restaurant will be shared on their Facebook page facebook.com/BullDurhamBeer/.
