A few upcoming Lenten fish frys in Raleigh, Durham

Lent starts this week and here are a few upcoming church suppers:

• St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in North Raleigh is hosting fish frys from 4-7 p.m. every Friday in Lent. For $10, you get a choice of an entree (baked fish, fried fish or peel your own shrimp) boiled potatoes or French fries, coleslaw, salad, rolls and a beverage. • St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Chuch in Cary is will be serving fish frys from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 27, March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27. The meal includes: fried cod, fries, salad, dessert and beverage for $11.50. A child’s meal includes fish sticks, macaroni and cheese, salad and beverage for $4.50. A family of four (two adults, two children) can eat for $31 plus $2.50 per additional child. Take-out orders can be placed from 3-6 p.m. by calling 919-468-6126. The church is at 804 High House Road. • In Durham, a chapter of The Knights of Columbus is hosting fish frys at several churches: Immaculate Conception Church, 810 W. Chapel Hill St. on Feb. 27 and March 6; Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Dr. on March 13; and Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2438 S. Alston Ave. on March 27. Dinner is served 5:30-7:30 p.m.. The cost is $7.50 per person.



• The Knights of Columbus Council 2546, which supports downtown Raleigh’s Sacred Heart Cathedral, hosts Lenten fish frys from 6-8 p.m. every Friday during Lent. The menu includes fried fish or shrimp, coleslaw and fries. The events are held at 3401 Columbus Club Dr. and not at the downtown Raleigh church. Info: 919-231-3315
