Rocky Top Hospitality buys events space in Youngsville

Rocky Top Hospitality, a Wake County-based restaurant group, has purchased The Boondocks special events facility in downtown Youngsville, expanding its footprint into Franklin County.

The company, which operates Rocky Top Catering and the 1705 Prime special event venue in Raleigh, will rebrand the facility as Cross + Main. It is located in a historic building at 201 East Main St., Youngsville.

The building was originally used as a livery, then as a fire station and was renovated in 2013 into an event space. It is used to host wedding ceremonies and receptions, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, reunions, baby showers and corporate events.

“We just love The Boondocks with its elegant giant arches, high ceilings, exposed brick, and open space,” said Dean Ogan, owner of Rocky Top Hospitality, in a press release. “When the opportunity arose to purchase the building and provide another option for our customers seeking grand venues for their special events, we just couldn’t pass it up.”

Franklin County property tax records indicate the value of the property to be $541,000.

Rocky Top’s catering arm and its new Southland BBQ Catering will now be the exclusive caterers at Cross + Main. Southland BBQ Catering also will offer catering and immediate delivery in Raleigh, Wake Forest and surrounding areas. It will offer in-house smoked pulled pork (both eastern and western North Carolina styles), Texas-style beef brisket and sausage, St. Louis-style spare ribs, beer-can chicken, banana pudding, peach cobbler and more. Delivery will be available from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. seven days a week.

Ogan’s company also operates three restaurants; The Twisted Fork, Dean’s Seafood Grill & Bar and The Daily Planet Café at the N.C Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh.
