A new hotel opening in North Raleigh will include a rooftop lounge and terrace on overlooking the stores, restaurants and apartments in North Hills.
The state’s first AC Hotel, a 135-room building developed by Concord Hospitality Enterprises and Kane Realty, is on the east side of Six Forks Road near the Captrust office center. It will open in late March.
Anthony Zinani, the food and beverage director for Concord, said the rooftop bar and lounge on the seventh floor will be called Level 7. It will serve handcrafted cocktails, Spanish wine and local beer and liquor from Raleigh Brewing Company and Raleigh Rum Company. There also will be tapas-style small bites.
“Most bars in the area serve beer,” said Zinani, who previously worked as a sous chef at Sullivan’s Steakhouse and Flights Restaurant at the Renaissance hotel. “This will be a nice place to come after work and get a cocktail and relax with some nice music.”
The current menu features several $14 cocktails, including a custom gin and tonic and “Sir Walter Raleigh,” which combines whiskey, club soda, bitters and a sugar cube. Beer ranges from $5.50 to $7. Bottle service will also be available, Zinani said.
The 5,100-square-foot space, which includes an indoor portion and an open-air outdoor area, will be scattered with couches, chairs and other seating and will feature live music on occasion. Hotel guests, as well as the general public, will be able to visit the rooftop area.
AC, one of Marriott’s upscale brands, is designed to appeal to the five senses, said Jason Andrews, the hotel’s general manager. Ceiling-to-floor-length windows provide a view of North Hills, and rooms and hallways are lined with textured wallpaper and tiles. Scented candles are placed around the lobby and lounge for several hours every day.
The hotel is one of 30 AC Hotels opening across the United States in the next 18 months, but the rooftop area is unique to the North Hills hotel, Andrews said.
