Sardi’s Den, a popular rib joint in Clemson, S.C., is taking its show on the road. Irv Harrington and Mike McHenry, owners of the original — and until now only — Sardi’s Den (no affiliation with the famed Sardi’s in New York), have selected Bryan Cole, a veteran of more than a decade with the Outback Steakhouse chain, and his wife, Amber to open the first franchise in North Raleigh.
Targeted for a late April opening in the old Oliver Twist space in Brennan Station, the new Sardi’s Den will base its menu on the all-American fare — burgers, wings, steaks, seafood and barbecue, including the restaurant’s signature baby back ribs — that has made the original a local institution for 20 years.
The new location’s larger kitchen will enable the Coles to expand on that menu — especially in the seafood category, where specials will include the likes of blackened salmon, stuffed flounder, shrimp and grits, and all-you-can eat crab legs.
Sardi’s Den (8111-137 Creedmoor Road); 919-650-6500; sardisdenribs.com) will have a full bar, with half a dozen or so beers on tap. Once the restaurant opens, hours will be Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
