Raleigh’s The Oxford restaurant is hosting a Kentucky Derby Party from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2.
The event will feature Maker’s Mark mint juleps as well as Southern-style buffet menu with dishes such as Benedictine dip, hot brown, cornbread, fried green tomatoes, bread pudding, Kentucky burgoo, fried chicken and Kentucky cheese and garlic grits and Derby pie, or chocolate bourbon pecan pie. In addition to the food and drinks, the event will include fashion competitions: a big hat competition for the women and a best seersucker suit for the men.
There will be horse betting with 100 percent of the funds benefiting Raleigh’s Tammy Lynn Center, which serves nearly 400 families each year who are caring for children or adults with developmental disabilities.
