Durham’s Six Plates wine bar brings back Txakolifest for its eighth year on May 16.
The one-day festival, which celebrates Txakoli, the wines produced in the Basque country in Spain. The festival is a two-part event: a fundraising session and a general admission session.
The fundraising portion will take place from noon-3 p.m.,with proceeds donated to the Urban Ministries of Durham. Tickets to the fundraising session cost $75 and include food and wine tastings, a souvenir glass and live music provided by Andrew Kasab. Participating restaurants this year include: Watts Grocery, Gocciolina, Pizzeria Toro, Blu Seafood, Vin Rouge, Toast, G2B and Juju.
The general admission session goes from 3 p.m. to closing. Tickets costs $10, which includes entry and live music. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. New York City band The Hunting Party will perform. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at txakolifest.com.
