Among the newest bars on Raleigh’s Person Street area is the William & Co., which is hosting El Taco Cartel bike on June 26 for a soft launch event.

The 800-square-foot bar, also known as Willco Bar based on its social media handles, is at 616 N. Person St., or right next door to PieBird.

Owners Lily and David Balance are longtime downtown Raleigh bartenders. Both worked at White Collar Crime; he worked at Old Bar and she worked for 15 years at Five Star.

Lily Balance said the couple wanted to create a cozy, neighborhood bar that focuses on uses fresh fruits to make cocktails and aqua frescas. The inspiration came from her childhood in Mexico where she says she never drank bottled fruit juices but rather always fresh: orange, watermelon and the like.

The other influence of her childhood at the bar: they serve chicken tamales on weekend nights. (They are delicious, based on a recent visit.) And so it’s fitting that William & Co bar would host the El Taco Cartel’s soft launch at about 7 p.m. June 26. To read more about El Taco Cartel, go HERE.
