Cary’s RailHawks soccer team has its fourth annual pregame Pig Pickin’ Festival and BBQ Competition on Saturday.
Professional and amateur cooks will be cooking barbecue for the crowds. Amateur cooks will be competing to be named RailHawks Barbecue Champion. This year’s prizes include a team-signed RailHawks jersey, recognition on field at halftime, four vouchers to a RailHawks game and the new RailHawks Hog Helmet Trophy.
Pig pickin’ attendees can sample the barbecue as well as try Lonerider Brewery’s Captain’s Ale, named for longtime RailHawk player Kupono Low. Tickets are $17 for samples of barbecue, Captain’s Ale as well as a liquor tasting or $12 for those under age 21. Fans also can purchase other Lonerider beers and full meals from Backyard Bistro. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs through kickoff at 7:15 p.m.
The RailHawks are playing the San Antonio Scorpions at WakeMed Soccer Park.
