Abundance NC’s 8th annual Pepper Festival will be 3-7 p.m. Sept. 27 in Chapel Hill.
More than two dozen chefs will be serving samples of dishes made with locally-grown peppers. Chefs include chefs Angela Salamanca of Raleigh’s Centro, Colin Bedford of Fearrington Inn in Pittsboro, Marshall Smith of Glasshalfull in Carrboro, Jason Smith of 18 Seaboard in Raleigh, and John Childers of The Umstead Hotel in Cary.

There will be a king and queen crowning as well as a best dish award. The event also includes local music, children’s activities and 25 educational booths offering information on sustainability, conservation, renewable energy, local food, clean air, clean water and green funerals.
