Oct. 10 is Jamie’s Weekend of Purpose, which includes a service day and two fundraisers to benefit the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation.
From 9 a.m.-noon, volunteers will be fanning across Raleigh to do work at various nonprofits.
For those who like to eat well while doing good, there are two opportunities to help the cause.
▪ Jamie’s Party for a Purpose will be at 7 p.m. at CAM Raleigh. The event features several Triangle chefs: Aaron Vandemark of Pancuito in Hillsborough, Sunny Gerhart of Joule Coffe + Table and Steven Goff of the just-opened Standard Foods, both in Raleigh. Also there serving drinks will be Gary Crunkleton of The Crunkleton in Chapel Hill and Ponysaurus Brewing of Durham. Tickets cost $50 per person. CAM, the city’s contemporary art museum, is at 409 W. Martin St., Raleigh.
▪ From 12:30-2:30 p.m. Oct. 11, Poole’s Diner will open for a special brunch to benefit Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. Tickets cost $150 per person.

Jamie Kirk Hahn was a rising Democratic political strategist and fundraiser who was murdered in April 2013. Her friend, Jonathan Broyhill, was convicted in her death and sentenced to life in prison.
The foundation was started after her death to “build an army of Jamies, helping where the needs are greatest, serving with love and humility, and mentoring the next generation of emerging leaders,” according to a press release. Proceeds from the events benefit the foundation.
