The Cajun/Creole restaurant Battistella’s has closed after five years in City Market. An expiring lease triggered the decision, according to owner Karl Hudson, though several factors were involved.
Hudson, who had also backed chef Brian Battistella’s previous restaurant in Hudson’s Crabtree Inn, notes that business at the restaurant had fallen off substantially. He adds that other interests have placed increasing demands on his time and energy. Notable among these is Rare Earth Farms, which produces grass-fed beef and heritage pork. Hudson recently put a Rare Earth Farms food truck on the road to showcase his naturally raised beef in the form of gourmet burgers.
