Durham’s Old Havana Sandwich Shop has new regular hours: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays.
Since they are no longer offering weekend dinners, the owners are offering more special events. Here are a few:
▪ First Saturday of each month will feature a special tapas menu served from 6-9 p.m. and salsa dancing from 8-10 p.m.
▪ A new monthly dinner series on the third Friday of each month called “The Lost Dishes of Cuba.” Owner Elizabeth Turnbull said the dinners will “tie together all aspects of our mission at Old Havana by allowing us to use locally grown ingredients to feature the global flavors that have historically infused Cuban cooking.” The first dinner will be 7-9:30 p.m. Jan. 22. The five-course meal costs $55.
▪ One Sunday a month, chef Roberto Capo Matos will teach a hands-on cooking class and sit-down dinner at his and Turnbill’s Hillsborough farm. The class costs $50. The January class is full. There is no class in February because the couple is traveling to Cuba. The next class will be in March.
