Barbecue expert and retired UNC professor John Shelton Reed has a new book out and Durham’s Picnic restaurant is hosting his only local book event on March 13.
Reed, who previously wrote “Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbecue,” has a new cookbook out from the University of North Carolina Press. “Barbecue” is another in the series of Savor the South cookbooks. (Full disclosure: I wrote the Pickles & Preserves book in that series.)
Reed will be at Picnic from 2-4 p.m. March 13. Picnic will serve barbecue, sides, snacks and dessert. Tickets to the event cost $30 and can be purchased at http://peatix.com/event/149864/view.
