The Southern Indepent Booksellers Alliance announced the semifinalists for its annual Southern book awards and four Triangle food writers are on the list.
The SIBA semifinalists in the cookbook category include Chapel Hill chef Bill Smith of Crook’s Corner, who wrote “Crabs & Oysters: A Savor the South Cookbook,” Sara Foster, owner of Foster’s Market in Durham, who wrote “Foster’s Market Favorites: 25th Anniversary Collection,” Chapel Hill cookbook author Nancie McDermott, who wrote, “Southern Soups and Stews: More Than 75 Recipes from Burgoo and Gumbo to Etouffee and Fricassee,” and Raleigh author Bridgette Lacy’s “Sunday Dinner: A Savor the South Cookbook.”
The alliance members will vote on the semifinalists in March and finalists will be announced in April. A jury of booksellers will choose the category winners, which will be announced July 4.
