Longtime Triangle restaurateur Giorgios Bakatsias announced Wednesday that he would open Boheme in the former Straw Valley Food + Drink space in Durham.
In a letter, Bakatsias wrote that chefs Chelsea Mock and Damon Barham will lead the kitchen, garden and bar, which will open in May.
Bakatsias has several successful Triangle restaurants, including Vin Rouge and Parizade in Durham and Kipos in Chapel Hill. His company has 13 restaurants across the state.
The restaurant will be open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday and for brunch on the weekends. The restaurant also will host what it is calling a “Boheme Bazzar,” an homage to great open markets.

The restaurant’s location has been a troubled spot for other businesses. The former artist’s studio and residence is stunning but tucked away off Highway 15-501 and surrounded by a Wal-Mart and other big box retailers.
Last March, Straw Valley Food + Drink, the last ambitious project, to go in there closed. It was a combination cafe, fine-dining restaurant and the operators had hoped to open a beer garden.
