Hadley’s, a bar that took over for the much-loved Borough in downtown Raleigh, is for sale after being open for about four months.

Co-owner Kevin Barrett said Thursday that the the Lost Generation-inspired restaurant and bar at the corner of West Morgan and Dawson streets wasn’t resonating with customers.

“Our concept at Hadley’s just kind of missed,” Barrett said. “We’re hoping to get somebody in there to activate that space again.”

Barrett said it didn’t help that he and his business partner, Drew Schenck, were stretched too thin. The men are preparing to open Dram & Draught, a whiskey bar at the corner of Hillsborough Street and Boylan Avenue, which was the original idea that brought them together. Schenck is also the owner of RallyPoint Sport Grill in Cary.

The two men met at Foundation, another downtown Raleigh bar that Barrett managed for many years. Barrett also worked at C. Grace Cocktail Bar and Fox Liquor Bar. (Hadley’s is named after Ernest Hemingway’s first wife, Elizabeth Hadley Richardson.)

If you are interested, Hadley’s sale is listed on Craigslist.
