Chef Jason Smith, owner of 18 Hospitality Group, is opening a second Cantina 18 location in Morrisville.
On Monday, Smith said he hopes to open the 3,000-square-foot, 100-seat restaurant during the first quarter 2017 in the Park West Village , near the intersection of Cary Parkway and Chapel Hill Road. Cantina 18 serves a seasonally changing menu of contemporary Mexican food and margaritas.
“We’re having great success with Cantina 18,” Smith explained. “We do need to grow. We’re busting at the seams with people in our organization looking to move up.”
Smith already owns 18 Seaboard in Raleigh’s Seaboard Station, the original Cantina 18 in Cameron Village and Harvest 18 in Durham. Last year, Smith closed the original Cantina 18 for several months while it underwent renovations, adding a second floor. It reopened late last year.
