Fetch by The Dodo overview
Fetch by The Dodo was founded in 2003. It was previously called PetPlan but rebranded to Fetch by The Dodo when The Dodo, a media brand, took a minority stake in the company in 2020.
The company’s plan options are somewhat more limited than some of its competitors’ pet insurance coverage. For example, you can’t buy an accident-only or an illness-only policy — just one type of policy that covers both. Also, coverage is capped at $15,000 with no option for unlimited coverage. However, you can customize your policy by choosing your deductible, annual coverage cap and reimbursement percentage.
Fetch by The Dodo’s services
Fetch by The Dodo offers a combination accident and illness insurance plan only. Its plans include holistic care and also cover hereditary conditions. Unlike some other pet insurance companies, it also covers vet exam fees for covered sick visits.
Some unique features of a Fetch policy include its coverage for missing pets and boarding kennel fees. Fetch by The Dodo covers $1,000 for advertising and reward money if your pet goes missing. It also covers up to $1,000 if you are in the hospital for more than four days and must board your pet.
While Fetch by The Dodo doesn’t offer routine and preventive care coverage, its accident and illness coverage applies to a wide range of incidents and veterinary treatments.

Fetch by The Dodo pet insurance cost
The cost of pet insurance depends on your pet and its breed, age and location. Fetch by The Dodo notes on its website that the average cost for dogs is $35 per month, and the average for cats is $20 per month.
The company uses a patent-pending technology called Fetch Forward to determine your cost. Fetch Forward uses millions of data points collected over 16 years of clinical health studies and artificial intelligence. The technology can also provide a Pet Health Forecast to predict your pet’s health. It can provide the likelihood that your dog will develop certain conditions based on its data.
Fetch also offers discounts. Veterans and active military members can receive 10% off each month. AARP members also get 10% off.
