Jean was born in New Bedford, MA where she married the love of her life, Harold Slocum. They moved to Hollywood, Florida to raise their family. Our best memories are living a simple life near the ocean surrounded by love and laughter with many extended family members close by. Together they rose above their challenging childhoods and became excellent parents, grandparents, and role models. Jeanie (as Dad affectionately called her) had many talents and excelled in a variety of jobs using her "people skills". She was also instrumental in helping start up Sisters Restaurant's Catering division. She served children lunches and hugs at Leesville Schools and the kids loved her! But her best contributions are those that you don't collect a paycheck for; generosity, kindness, dedication to family, and LOVE. Our neighborhood friends were always welcome and our home was THE place to be. She was an active Room Mother, PTA Member, and "Band Parent" and never missed her children's events. Always a giving spirit!
Mom - ”Nana” is preceded in death by her husband Harold A. Slocum in 2010 and her grandson, Eric A. Brady in 2014. She is survived by her 3 children; Deborah Brady, David Slocum, and Susan Petrie and grandchildren; Laura Slocum Park, Steven Brady, Mark Brady, Jack Alan Petrie Jr., and Brad Petrie. She also has many extended family members who loved her like a Mother. She will live on in so many hearts, forever!
The family will celebrate her life in a private gathering. Jean's request is to send donations to your favorite charity to benefit Children in need.
