Mary Hall Strickland, 92, a devoted Christian wife and mother passed away on June 9, 2015 in Chester, VA. Most of her adult life, she lived in Johnston County near Middlesex.
She graduated from the Baptist School of Nursing (Winston-Salem) in 1944. While there, she fell in love with and married her husband of 44 years, Armie. After giving birth to her first child, she chose to be a fulltime mother and homemaker.
She was a member of Friendship FWB Church near Middlesex for over 60 years. It is there that she will be interred beside her husband, Armie R. Strickland, who predeceased her in 1989. She was also predeceased by her father and mother, Clarence L. Hall and Tulia Rollins Hall, and her brother and sister, Dr. J. Cullen Hall and Lucy Hall Taft.
The celebration of her life and her new residence in heaven will be held 11 am Saturday, June 13 at Friendship FWB Church, 744 Friendship Church Rd., Middlesex, NC 27557. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

She is survived by her son, Rowland Strickland and his wife, Jane, of Stantonsburg, and her daughter, Nancy Pendergrass and her husband, Linzy , of Chester, VA.; three grandsons, Jonathan Vann Strickland and his wife Alison of Guilford, CT, Thomas H. Pendergrass and his wife, Lauren of Richmond, VA, and Daniel L. Pendergrass and his wife, Leslie, of North Chesterfield, VA; her great-grandchildren are Bobby and Maggie Strickland and Ethan Armie Pendergrass.
Her family especially thanks Virginia Meroth, who provided tender, compassionate, and loving care to our mother.
