Ruth Margaret Streng passed away peacefully on June 4, 2015 in Charlotte, NC. Ruth was born Ruth Margaret Butzin on January 28, 1928 in Saginaw, MI. The daughter of Walter and Margaret Butzin, she lived in Saginaw until moving with her family to Cary, NC in 1969. Due to illness, Ruth had recently moved to an assisted care facility in Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Streng; granddaughter, Caroline Streng; sister, Loraine Spickler; and brothers, Gerald and Walter Butzin.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Dr. David Streng of Gastonia, NC and Colonel Peter Streng, USMC, Retired, of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren that she was very proud of, Diana Knipping and Laurel Streng, both of Raleigh, NC, David Streng II of Charlotte, Maggie Streng of Richmond, VA, Jake Streng of Blacksburg, VA; and sister Eleanor Marti of Saginaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road in Cary, at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 followed by entombment at Raleigh Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Ruth's name be made to Novant Health Hospice in Charlotte.
