William “Bill” Norman Hinton, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015 at Rex Healthcare in Apex after a few years of declining health and a recent illness. Born on November 25, 1938 in Wilson County; he was the son of the late Alkie Curtis Hinton and Evadna Brown Hinton and brother of the late Curt Hinton, Jr. and the late Robert Hinton.
Bill graduated from Rock Ridge High School and Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, playing basketball for both as well. Bill served honorably in the US Army while stationed in Korea. He retired from Smith & Smith as a land surveyor. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and watching sports, especially the NC State Wolfpack.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte Cameron Hinton; daughters: Beverly Hinton Davis and husband Scott, of Raleigh and Susan Hinton Yost, of Apex; grandchildren: Cameron, Matthew and Avery; siblings: Susan Hoffschneider and husband Dave, of Illinois and Walker Hinton, of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law: Louise Hinton and her family, of Fayetteville; and by other family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Apex Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow at Wake Memorial Park.
