Richard A. Starner, Jr. peacefully gave up his final breath to the Lord on May 27, 2015. Rick had been diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2014 and recently had to be in hospice care. Rick is the son of the late Richard A. Starner, and Marilyn Burkhead Starner, who resides in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Rick was born in Harlington, Texas October 26, 1956 and measured life with enthusiasm and humor in all things he did. Completing his education in Houston TX, he moved to Raleigh, NC where he founded his company. Rick married Leslie Lain Starner and has two children, Jesse Lain Starner and Samantha Anne Starner. Rick's oldest daughter, Melissa Helen Starner resides in Katy, Texas. He was so proud of each of his children's accomplishments in life and how they were advancing in their goals.
Rick served on several committees throughout his career as a subcontractor steel erector and was proud to be apart of SEAA. Rick enjoyed volunteering during the time he was active at Grace Community Church for the Youth Group and was a avid supporter for the Christian Library Alliance. Rick will always be remembered for his zest for life and his sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by his children and surrounding family and friends that he influenced throughout his life. His legacy will live on through his children. Rick leaves behind his mother, Marilyn Starner whom he loved very much and cared for him during his last few weeks of life. He also leaves behind his sister, Kimberle Crawley of Pinehurst, NC and many nieces and nephews. His heart says farewell for now to his three children, Melissa, Jesse and Samantha Starner and their mother, Leslie Lain Starner.
