Joyce Kilmer Batts Bardin, 87, of Glenaire Retirement Community, died Thursday June 18, 2015. Her warmth, generosity and kind spirit were well known and cherished by those she encountered throughout her life. A longtime member and deacon of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, she loved sports, music, and her family. Even in her declining health, she found joy in simple pleasures: visits from family and friends, a Tar Heel or Yankees win, or almost equal: a loss by the Blue Devils.

Grandmother of David Bardin (Rachel), Mary Beth Bardin, Anne Elizabeth Carter (Nathan), Hannah Bardin Sturm (Brett), Margaret Bardin Posey (Alex), Melanie Bardin, and Allison Bardin. She was a great-grandmother, to Ella Grace Carter and Will Bardin, and a step-grandmother, to Taylor Edgerton Glenn and Spencer Edgerton.
Born in Macclesfield, NC, on December 25, 1928 daughter of D. Frank Batts and Narcissus H. Batts. She was preceded in death by them and by her sister, Evelyn Bailey (Rad), Frank Batts, Jr., Vincent Batts, and Raymond Batts.
