Norville Palmer Sanders, 68, died on June 14, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred Marsh and Julia Palmer Sanders.
Palmer was born in Rocky Mount, NC and had three brothers. He received his Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Georgia and was in the Army Reserves. He was married to Phyllis Smith for 35 years, and they have two daughters. Palmer was a true family man and loved to spend time traveling. He retired from the Boys Scouts of America after 20 years of service. After having lived in different places, they settled in Henderson County for the last 15 years.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, their two daughters: Bryanna and her husband Avery Gibbs of Asheville, Caroline and her husband Zoe Crist of Flat Rock, three brothers: Al Sanders and his wife Mickey of Houston, TX, John Sanders and Lee Sanders both of Arden, grandchildren: Layne and Asher Crist and Olivia Gibbs and niece Sharalynn Fenn.
A Memorial Service will be held June 22, 2015 at The First United Methodist Church, 100 South Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Reverend Jim Bell officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am at the church Fellowship Hall followed by the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice at 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, 28731.
