Shirley Bernice Garvey

Shirley Bernice Garvey passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.

Affectionately known as Shirl, she was born in the small town of Prince Albert, Ontario, Canada.

During her childhood years she developed a love of all aspects of nature and throughout her life she demonstrated her interests in her paintings, her craft works and particularly her gardens.

Along with Howard, her husband; and their three children, they transferred to Boston in the early ‘70s and a year later to Raleigh, NC.

She was an active member of the Assistance League of the Triangle where she spent many happy and rewarding hours as a volunteer. She cherished her time with the many close and lasting friendships developed there.

In June of 2012, Shirley and Howard moved from their residence of over 20 years to the retirement community of Magnolia Glen in Raleigh. There she found much happiness with her cottage, her gardens, her precious new friends, and the contentment and security she enjoyed daily.

Predeceased by her two sisters, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard; their three children, Linda, her husband Steve, and their three children; Paul, his wife Ruth, and their daughter, AnnAlyse, son, Justin, Crystal, and their son, Brody; and Donna and her son, Koen.

Much appreciation is extended to the staff and management of Magnolia Glen for their unique thoughtfulness, care and consideration.

A reception will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Magnolia Glenn. Please join our family at that time as we remember a very special lady.
