Ronald N. Coleman, 79, was welcomed into his home in Heaven on August 14, 2015. What rejoicing there must have been, for he was a man who loved his Lord. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church. He loved his church and his Pastor.
Ron was a retired GTE employee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. He loved his country, its flag, and nature. He was a wonderful husband and father who loved his family, his friends, his country home and his special cats, Tom and Maggie.
Ron was born in Rome, New York, the son of Clayton and Hilda Coleman. Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley Godwin Wadsworth Coleman; one daughter, Olivia Woods and husband Chris, of Burlington; two sons, Nelson Coleman and wife Marianna Timmons, of Durham, and Russell Coleman, of Athens, Georgia; one step-son, Tyler Wadsworth and wife Joie, of St. Louis, Missouri; one step-daughter, Susan Pearce and husband Tim, of Holly Springs; granddaughters, Hannah Woods, Savannah Woods and Taylor Woods; grandson, Daniel Woods; and step-granddaughter, Katy Wadsworth;
Ron was also survived by sisters, Carol Rall and husband George, of Niceville, Florida, Marilyn O’Connor, of Rome, New York, and Brenda Becker and husband Skip, of Palatine Bridge, New York; brother, Norman Coleman and wife, Toni, of Utica, New York; sister-in-law, Karen Coleman, of Rome, New York; and many special nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father, Clayton and Hilda Coleman; his former wife and the mother of his children, Maxine Fesperman Coleman, of Durham; brothers, Alan Coleman, of Rome New York, and Vernon Coleman, of Swancott Mills, New York; and step-granddaughter, Madison Pearce, of Holly Springs.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Clements Funeral Chapel, Durham. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services. Flowers are acceptable, and memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Cir., Raleigh, NC 27607.
