Richard E. Lane, CWO III Retired U.S. Army

Richard Elwyn "Dick" Lane, 82, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, August 17, 2015. Born on April 12, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan; he was the son of the late Alwyn Edward Lane and Hazel Lockwood Lane. Richard served his country honorably for 22 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer III in the US Army, serving 2 tours in Vietnam. After his military retirement, Richard, as Director of Training, designed and implemented the successful training program for NORTEL Networks in Raleigh, NC. in the early 80s.

He is survived by: Rebecca Shirley Lane, his wife of 62 years; four daughters, Michelle Ishihara and husband Sam, of Apex, NC; Sharon McCann, of Angier, NC; Kim Lane and partner David, of Lehi, UT and RoxAnne Christley and husband Laryn, of Roanoke, VA; his brother, Don Bryan Lane, of Wilmington NC; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Services, presented with full Military Honors, will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – 6538 Johnson Pond Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC. Family will receive guests following the service in the church lobby.

Chief Richard E. Lane’s inurnment will be in the Columbarium “Niche Wall’ at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia in the coming months.
