Herbert Whitfield 87, of Kinston passed away Wednesday August 19, 2015 at home. Herbert was a member of Queen Street United Methodist Church and in recent years a member of Westminster United Methodist. Herbert was well known in Kinston as owner and operator of Whitfield Auto Sales.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Whitfield and Vara Estelle Spence; Johnny Whitfield , brother, and sister’s Doris Whitfield and Alma Offutt. Visitation will be at Westminster United Methodist Church, 1001 Westminster Lane, Kinston, NC from 1-2 PM followed by the service at 2:00 and burial at Pinelawn.
Herbert is survived by his wife Darlene Hardy Whitfield, niece; Vara J. Bell of Raleigh, nephew; Harris Johnson and wife Mary Ann of Kinston; and step-daughter; Rhonda Fuller and husband Daren of New Bern; Lyman Hardy , brother-in-law and a very special granddaughter; Mary Ellis Fuller. Mary Ellis has been a great helper to granddaddy and Leanie during the last three weeks. Great nieces are Parker Bell and Brooks Johnson and great nephew; Whitt Johnson.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at Westminister United Methodist Church.
