Warren Franklin Grady

Warren Franklin Grady passed away on August 15, 2015 at 8:19pm. He is predeceased by his parents James Arthur Grady and Mary Eva Hill Grady. He is also predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Carlton Grady and his sisters, Dixie Grady King and Mildred Grady Spear.

Warren was born and raised in Deep Run, North Carolina and lived in New Bern, North Carolina since 1966.

He earned his B.S. in Accounting with a minor in Education from Atlantic Christian College where he was a brother of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Warren served his country in the United States Army and then began his business career at Commercial Credit Union in Wilmington, NC. He was employed by Dixie Chemical Corporation in New Bern for over 44 years. During that time he held many positions including Vice President of Manufacturing and President.

Warren was honored to serve and chair in many roles in the agricultural industry including Director of the North Carolina Cotton Board and President of the Plant Food Association. He was on the advisory board for the Williams Company and served as an advisory member of Columbia Nitrogen Company and Agrico Chemical Company. He also served on the board of Dixie Denning Supply, Alligood-Owens, and the Wayne Grain Company. In his retirement years, Warren became active in real estate and most recently enjoyed substitute teaching for the Craven County School System.

Socially, Warren was a Master Mason member of the Doric Masonic Lodge #568, a member of the Sudan Shriners and was honored to serve with the Sudan Shriner Chef Crew. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in New Bern.

Warren cherished being with his family and friends and he has never met a stranger. His exuberance for life was contagious to everyone around him. He loved the beach, boating, gardening, and his beloved wife, Ramona Harriett Grady.

In addition to his wife, Ramona, he is survived by his daughters Wendy Grady Simpson (Josh) of Mountain Brook, AL and Lori Grady Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Molly Warren Simpson, George Wakeley Simpson, Euan Connor Johnson and Emma Catherine Johnson; stepsons Logan Douglas Thomas (Heather) and Colby Simmons Thomas (Claudine) step-grandchildren Francine Simbulan and Zachary Nicholi Thomas, sisters Jean Riggs and Mary Etheridge and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Warren was laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern, NC. Pollock-Best Funeral Home is entrusted with the Grady Family.
