United Furniture Industries plans to expand its operations in Forsyth County and add 200 jobs over the next three years.
The Mississippi-based company will invest $5.2 million to combine its manufacturing and distribution facilities in Winston-Salem at the historic Hanes Mill Weeks plant, Gov. Pat McCrory’s office announced Wednesday. United employs 940 people at four North Carolina facilities in Randolph, Davidson and Forsyth counties.
The company was awarded a grant worth up to $300,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. The grant requires a local match and United must meet investment and hiring milestones to receive the money.
The annual payroll for the new jobs will be $5,684,000, which averages out to $28,420 per job. That is below the Forsythe County average of $45,845
