Raleigh-based McConnell Golf has added its ninth golf course by acquiring the Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville.
Financial details weren’t disclosed.
John McConnell, the company’s president and CEO, said in a statement that the country club’s location was a plus.
“We consider the whole region a future growth market,” he said, citing the growth spurred by East Carolina University and its medical school.
The history of Brook Valley includes a 1966 exhibition match played by all-time golf greats Ben Hogan and Sam Snead.
McConnell, who made fortunes twice over as CEO of Medic Computer and A4 Health Systems, founded McConnell Golf in 2003 when he acquired the Raleigh Country Club after it filed for bankruptcy. The company has courses in North and South Carolina.
