A Richmond civil engineering firm has again expanded its Triangle presence by adding Mitchell Environmental, a Fuquay-Varina environmental and soil consulting firm based in Fuquay-Varina.
The deal between Timmons Group and Mitchell Environmental is technically a merger despite the disparity in the sizes of the two businesses, said Tim Klabunde, Timmons’ director of marketing. Timmons has about 330 employees and Mitchell Environmental has a handful of workers.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The deal gives Timmons, which acquired Raleigh-based Developing Consulting Services in June 2014, more than 25 employees in the Triangle.

“We have doubled in size in the past 12 months in Raleigh,” Klabunde said. “We see it as a market that is certainly growing and is in need of the types of services we provide.”
Timmons also has three other North Carolina offices in Charlotte, Fayetteville and Greensboro.
In the past 20 months, Timmons has acquired or merged with six firms.
