The chief operating officer of INC Research, Alistair Macdonald, has been promoted to the newly-created position of president.
Macdonald, who has been COO of the Raleigh-based clinical research organization since January 2013, will retain that title as well. INC didn’t have a president prior to Macdonald’s promotion.
INC also announced that Michael Gilbertini was promoted to the newly-created position of president of clinical development. He previously was president and general manager of central nervous systemm clinical development.
CEO Jamie Macdonald (no relation to Alistair Macdonald) said in a prepared statement that the two executives “bring strong leadership, proven track records of success and strategic vision” to their new roles.

Alistair Macdonald, who is based in the United Kingdom, has been with INC since 2002 and has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Gilbertini joined INC in 2005. In his new role, he will continue to report directly to the CEO.
Publicly traded INC has 5,400 employees worldwide, including more than 850 in the Triangle.
