RC Creations, a food processing company, announced Friday that it will open a new facility in Pender County and create 120 new jobs by the end of 2017.

The company plans to invest $25 million to build the plant. The facility will import fresh and frozen seafood from around the world that will then be packaged and shipped to domestic and international markets.

RC Creations is a division of New York-based Acme Smoked Fish Corp., a family-owned business.

The company is eligible to receive $975,000 in state incentives if it meets hiring and investment milestones. Josh Ellis, a spokesman for the state Commerce Department, said RC Creations chose North Carolina over Virginia after considering a number of coastal states from Massachusetts to Georgia.

The average annual wage for the new jobs will be $33,308, above the Pender County average of $28,792.

The facility is to be built in the Pender Commerce Park, which is in an unincorporated area of the county next to the new water treatment plant. The facility will be about 20 miles northwest of Wilmington.
