SunTrust Bank has promoted John Risinger to the post of city president in Raleigh.
Risinger, who joined SunTrust in 2012, has worked in the banking industry in Raleigh for more than 15 years. In addition to his new duties at SunTrust, he will continue to be a commercial banking relationship manager.
Risinger succeeds, and will report to, Chris Bell, president of SunTrust’s Triangle East region. Bell headed the Raleigh and Wake County markets before being promoted to his current position last year.
SunTrust, which is headquartered in Atlanta, ranks fourth among banks with 29 branches in the Raleigh metropolitan area, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

As city president, Risinger will lead the bank’s community initiatives in Raleigh and coordinate service to clients with senior market executives.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Risinger is on the leadership committee of the Greater Raleigh Chambers of Commerce and is on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina.
