Silicon Valley educational company opens Raleigh office

IXL Learning, an educational technology company based in Silicon Valley, has opened its first East Coast office in Raleigh and is in hiring mode.

IXL’s new Raleigh office, which was unveiled Tuesday, currently has 11 employees. In addition, the company has 9 local job openings posted on its website.

Founded in 1998, privately held IXL has a total of more than 200 employees. The company touts that its online learning tools are used by more than 200,000 teachers and one in 10 students at public and private schools in the U.S. alone, including more than 5,000 educators and 150,000 students in North Carolina.

Worldwide, according to the company, its math and English language arts online learning tools are used by more than 5 million subscribers in 190 countries.
