General Mills, which had been criticized last week for changing its legal policy regarding the rights of consumers to file lawsuits, has reversed course.
The policy update has been removed from the company website with a note saying General Mills had decided to return to its old policy.
In part, the notice says:
...our intentions and the substance of our changes were widely mischaracterized, and that caused concern. So we listened – and reverted to our prior terms.”

Critics had said the policy attempted to prohibit the rights of consumers who had downloaded and printed coupons, entered sweepstakes or engaged in social media such as Facebook.
