* The town of Carrboro received a $22,490 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency as reimbursement for the help two of its firefighters provided during the Hurricane Katrina recovery.

In September, firefighters Henry "Scott" Walker and Scott Trombley were sent to Pensacola, Fla., Houston and Beaumont, Texas, to aid people affected by the hurricane.

* The aldermen gave the New Horizons Task Force the go-ahead. The new committee will act under the same guidelines as the advisory boards. It is meant to reach out to annexed residents and serve as their direct line of communication with the aldermen.
