Any student in Wake County can apply, through Feb. 24, for a seat at one of the county's four magnet high schools -- Enloe, Broughton, Southeast Raleigh and Garner -- which usually offer more challenging classes and more electives than base schools. The magnet program generally is designed to attract suburban students to schools that otherwise would have large concentrations of disadvantaged students.
