Fayetteville police say Ja-h Quan Peed, 14, died from his injuries after he ran in front of a car on a busy road Friday evening.
Police say Peed tried to run across Raeford Road in Fayetteville when he was hit by a Jeep at about 6:30 p.m. Friday. He succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning.
Lt. Todd Joyce, in a live video on Facebook, said Raeford Road had heavy traffic at the time of the accident. Paramedics took the boy to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, he said.
The Fayetteville Observer reported that the teen was not carrying identification and police did not know who he was as doctors treated his injuries overnight.

The newspaper described Raeford Road as “one of Fayetteville’s busiest streets.”
Police said they did not expect to file charges against the driver.
