The Salvation Army of Wake County will hold its annual winter coat giveaway on Saturday – the first of three to be held through December.

Saturday’s event is 10 a.m. to 12 noon at its headquarters, 1863 Capital Blvd. in Raleigh.

The non-profit has distributed coats to families in need for more than 25 years.

Adults must present a government-issued photo ID and proof of Wake County residency, and children must have a formal document such as a birth certificate, shot record or Medicaid card, bearing the parent’s name and the child’s name.

The Salvation Army, a Christian charity, does not require proof of income.
